Will there be a Novice section in the championship or is it just for beginners.

Hi Piers,

It would be great to have results online. I took part in the beginners championship last year and have absolutely no idea of my placings in any of the events or overall.

Thanks,

Keith

Yep, Don't quite get it myself.. I'll have to have a chat with Paul Phelan about it before round 1. Not really sure about the difference between beginners & novices either...

Guy Foster lost out because there was only 2 in his class, he couldnt get anymore than 9 points. Are they trying to force newcomers into starlets or what?

Its difficult to work out when there aren't many in a class.. Any ideas on how to work it?

haven't looked at last years results to see how they were worked out but if I was doing the points for the championship I wouldn't base it on classes, don't think there would be enough to evenly spread out points. So fastest beginner gets say 11 points, 2nd gets 9, 3rd gets 8 working down along to 1 point, if there are more than 10 people then 11 on also get 1 point, also if someone starts an event but retires then they get 1 point aswell, the same for the Novice Championship if you are running one alongside the Beginners Championship.
To sort out who is a novice and who is a beginner, then a beginner is a person who has done 3 or less autotests before, this allows for someone who might have got one or two 1day licences to try their hand at events before to compete

if that scoring system was used in the hewison then anan coyle wouldnt have won the europa cup this year. by all means do a class results sheet but in my opinion overalls should be done on overall results.
