You will come across simular systems in a lot of class based Championships - if there was no class minimium then the competitor in a class on his own has won the Championship - if he just finishes enough events - no matter how good or bad he may be. Confused

Thanks for the input Malocm.. Maybe we wil have to simplify the rules for cars to minis. mini specials, saloons & sportcars.. It would be all to easy for a mini to win if they were lumped in with the saloons. The difference between a saloon driven by a beginner with a 1.3 v's say a 1.6 would be very little..

Would it be possible to have an overall championship for beginners and one for novices and then have class awards too, maybe have all competitors combined in the classes.
I would narrow it down to 3 classes, Minis, Saloons and then Sportscars & Specials, depending on numbers the Sportscars and Specials class could be split.

Sounds like a good idea... I'd imagine the minis/specials would always win overall though...

In any decent championship overall is overall not matter what class you in. With that system, someone in a class on their own will get 8 points if they are first or last overall, so is basically excluded before they start. This championships main objective is to attract newcomers but it will turn them off just as quick if they are penalised for driving something different to the rest. Its pathetic to try prevent certain cars for winning because they think theyre better.

I guess to keep a bit of interest in the championship we will have to have an overall and class awards... Not sure what to do about the situation of only one competitor in the class.. I guess the winner of the championship will have to be the overall winner.. I'll do some numbers and see how it works out...

what were the classes last year

Class 11 : Minis
Class 12 : ??
Class 13 : ??
Class 14 : Saloons ??
Class 15 : Saloons ??

My reckoning is the fastest man over the 4 events should win the championship, it shouldn't matter if he comes from a class with 1 car or 10 cars. As it looks from last years results there is nothing to encourage a competitor to come out in a Mini or a Sportscar/Special if there is only 2 or 3 in the class because they are fighting a loosing battle from round1

If there's only one competitor in the class then give him/her first in class points, don't penalise guys/girls for making the effort to show up and compete.

If you want a hand doing the championship points I'll gladly help

Anyone know what differentiates a novice from a beginner …now that might cause a bit of head scratching
