START: The event will be based in the Arklow area of Co Wicklow. Check-in (at a location to be advised) from 8.30 am. First car starts at 10.00 am SHARP.

FORMAT: The event will consist of driving tests on private property (up to 18 tests). Simple route instructions will be provided between test sites (passengers WILL BE required). There will NOT be any timing on the road sections. Each competitor will get a start time in the morning and again after lunch.

CLASSES: All FWD cars will be divided into Grade A and Grade B as decided by the organisers (As a guideline, any driver who has finished in the top 10 positions in a similar type event will be Grade A), RWD Saloons, RWD Sports Cars. This is primarily a fun event. Ties will be decided by the better time on test 1, and so on. Only one driver will be allowed per car.

Normal Multi-Venue event Mick, with road miles. Some really nice tests planned by Frank Fennell...

Planning is well underway for this event that will be based in the Meeting of the Waters/Arklow area of Co. Wicklow.

Regs are TBC and will be circulated in the coming days.

The event will be a 'true' Multi-Venue Autotest format with approximately 14/16 tests in various locations.

Start/Finish Location to be confirmed but will be close to The Meetings / Castlehoward area of Co. Wicklow. The event will use some test locations used on the 2011 TDC Trial.

It is required that all drivers carry a passenger as there will be no walking of the tests on this event. It may also be necessary for the passenger to record other information along the test route in order to keep speeds down for safety reasons.

Passengers must be over 16 and proof of age will be required on the day.

Due to the start and finish points being in different locations on many tests double driving WILL NOT be allowed on this event.

In order to complete all tests in reasonable and good time your co-operation is required. The event is proposed to have an 8am check-in for a 9.30am start.

Another new feature that will be trialled at this event is splitting the usually large Starlet class into two groups, something along the lines of Experts and Novices. This will give novice drivers that usually find themselves in the lower half of the Starlet class results a better chance at securing an award in this normally competitive class.

The breakdown of these two classes will be at the discretion of the TDC Committee.

As per usual Multi-Venue regs, one day licenses WILL NOT be available for this event and IRDS Insurance WILL be required by each driver.

Open cars competing must have a roll hoop fitted.

More details to follow in the coming days but for now get those cars ready!

Philip.

This sounds great! Just getting the Starlet NCT'd shortly so we'll have an entry in as soon as the forms are available.

It's a pity about the double driving, as the car is half owned but I suppose it's no harm to give it a bit of a rest from the spit roasting its been getting in every event so far Very Happy

Will the Starlet classes be split by stock and modded?

Not sure how it will be done, but it is always difficult to determine modifications on cars, so doing it by Novice/expert may be fairer given that a novice with a top car would unlikely get near the front...

Haven't thought much about it or how it would work, but would a starlet split on engine cc work? 1296, 1331 and 1496cc.

It could have, but I think there may only be 1 or 2 less than 1300cc and less than 3 over 1400 starlets....

Good to see interest is gaining for this event! As for the split Starlet class it will run in an Expert/Novice fashion rather than being CC based. As Piers mentioned before there are only a handful of Starlets now that are under/over 1330cc and to make even more classes for these cars would be inefficient.

Frank Fennell, our CoC has drawn on his immense motorsport knowledge and expertise to come up with a wonderful selection of 18 challenging tests on all types of surfaces and locations.

The vast Holfield complex is hosting the first two tests. Frank has made great use of the array of mixed surfaces and terrain, rest assured these tests will certainly dust off the cobwebs.

Next up you will be visiting Sam Woolmingtons Farm where there are a further two tests. Test one is a "lane type test " and the second is currently a very muddy and watery farm track. Weather conditions in the run up to the event could make this venue highly entertaining on the day.

Castle Howard Wood provides an excellent playground for multivenue autotesting enthusiasts. There will be three tests run throughout this woodland site and Frank has included some "interesting code boards " to keep the passengers occupied. Be mindful of the slippy surfaces in here as I fell foul of them in 2011 and needed a jeep to extract me from the dense undergrowth.

In keeping with the woodland experience, Ballard Christmas Tree Farm is the next test location. There are two gravel tests, one of which is a totally new demanding test, which will ensure that both crew members will be so busy that they will not have the time to enjoy the beautiful view and the fragrance of the pine trees.

Crews will then head to Woodenbridge for a well earned lunch break and an opportunity to discuss the motoring delights, dilemmas and dramas that the Garden of Ireland will have provided, before heading back to Arklow for a second visit to all test sites.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me in their entry and we will post a further update over the coming days.
