Plans are well underway for the Irish Classic Rally 2015 and Fred Bent, Michael Gabbett and Michael Jackson have been working tirelessly and have come up with very exciting and demanding tests and regularities. We're delighted to welcome numerous crews from across the water and we're sure they will enjoy the challenges that lie in store for them in picturesque Kilkenny and its surrounding counties. The strong entry list includes an Eclectic mix of machinery ranging in size from Mini's to Volvo's 122 S. Roy Perkins and Peter Ward have enjoyed successful outings in Ireland and will be keen for another good run in his Porsche 911 S. Robert and Graham Dance
will be making a welcome return to Kilkenny and they will add a bit of Italian Glamour in their Alfa Giulla Sprint. Ernie Campbell will be at the wheel of his unusual Peugeot 104 ZS and he has David Johnston for company. Rosemary Smith won the 1965 Tulip rally in a Hillman Imp and Nick Pullan and Ian Canavan will be flying the flag in the Imp. The effervescent Dermot Carnegie partnered by Paul Bosdet will be one to watch in his immaculately prepared Escort Mk1 and he will challenged by John Bertram , Paul Blair, Mark Doran ,Martin Nugent and Simon Echlin all in similar Escorts. The Gaffney family will be out in force, Ted has opted for the nimble Mini and Karen will be driving the well prepared Golf GTI. Des Bruton will be skillfully piloting his aptly named Avenger Tiger around the Kilkenny countryside.

The former winners Eamonn Byrne and Geoff Hall will have plenty of opposition from Eddie Peterson and Andrew O'Donoghue. Test co-coordinator, Michael Gabbett has promised all open tests with no advantages to the experienced tester. It's nice to see Colin Forster return to the event after the loss of his long term co - driver, Dave Harvey whose favourite event was the Irish Classic Rally. Sports cars are well represented with Belfast's Michael Reid partnered by John Lindsay who should be top performers. The Volvos's of James O'Mahony , Phillip Armstrong, Robert Ganly and Richard Mc Allister will be well suited to the Kilkenny terrain. Phillip partnered
by Frank Hussey were winners here in 1998.

As you can see we have a number of drivers with no co - drivers so please
get in touch with me at Patricia@tdcireland.com or 00 353 87 2605502
if you are available to navigate.

Please see the following update on our upcoming Retro Rally. We would encourage you to read it in detail as it contains important information regarding technical regulations, insurance , licence requirements and the night navigation section.

Thank you for supporting TDC and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.

Bulletin no: 1
Night Section.
The Night Section (Saturday), will be approximately two hours in duration and will involve three elements.
1. A regularity test, covering a route that is partially on private land.
2. A navigation test with Time Points, and Passage Controls
3. A regularity test, covering a route that is all on public roads.

The two regularity tests, will be run as described in the Regulations and will carry the same penalties as described in those Regulations.

The Navigation Test will carry the same penalties as described in the Regulations. Time Points (TP) and Passage Controls (PC) may be positioned at the side of the road, in a Public House, or other locations as described in the instructions for the Navigation Test.
Time Points and Passage Controls must be visited in the order given on the Time Card. Due time (for car “0”) at any Time Point (TP), is given on the Time Card, and the onus is on the competitor to calculate their own due time. These times are calculated at an average speed of no more than 30 MPH.A Time Point will be identified by a red clock face at the position of the marshal, there will be a yellow clock face, positioned some distance before the Time Point, and this clock face identifies the zone for the Time Point.
A competitor may enter the Time Point zone on the preceding minute of their due time and wait at the marshal for their due time, without penalty. They may not enter the Time Point zone more than one minute preceding their due time. To do so, may incur “early arrival” penalties.

Please note that unlike the day section, there is NO” three quarter rule” allowance on the Navigation Test. Any lost time, may NOT be made up, and must be carried to the end of the Test. Also, please note that there is NO penalty free lateness, at Time Points on the Night Navigation Test.

General.
1. There are no restrictions on tyre size, thread, compound and markings.
2: The Diameter of Auxiliary lights is not restricted.
3: Hydraulic Handbrakes are permitted.
If any competitor has any queries regarding tyres etc please contact
Michael Jackson 00353 86 2518791 or Frank Fennell 00353 86 2566880

Licences.

All competitors (both crew members) must hold a current competition licence issued by their ASN. All drivers MUST hold a valid letter of acceptance from the IRDS/BRDS Scheme, and pay the appropriate premium before the start to arrange Road Traffic Act insurance cover for the event. If any driver is unsure about how to obtain an IRDS/BRDS letter they should contact the Competitor Liaison Officer, Paul Phelan. 00353-86-2514193.

Insurance.
ROAD TRAFFIC ACT INSURANCE:
You are reminded that drivers who are Motorsport Ireland competition licence holders must produce a current (2015) letter of acceptance from the IRDS scheme.
Drivers who are holders of competition licences issued by the RAC MSA or any other ASN (National Governing Body) must produce a current (2015) letter of acceptance from the BRDS scheme.
If you do not already hold a current letter of acceptance from either of these schemes, the following is the procedure for application:
1 go to Motorsport Ireland website www.motorsportireland.com
2 go to Standard forms – Competitors
3A for MI licence holders: select 4th form listed – MI licence holders only, IRDS application
or
3B for ALL OTHER licence holders: select 5th form listed – MSA licence holders, BRDS application
4 Print whichever form you have selected
Complete the appropriate form and post to Motorsport Ireland, 34 Dawson Street, Dublin 2, Ireland.
MI’s insurance brokers will issue your letter of acceptance within a few days and send it to you (by e-mail, if you provided an e-mail address on the application form; otherwise, by post).
There are no exceptions to this requirement.
*** NO LETTER, NO START ***
Under Motorsport Ireland regulations, privately arranged insurance cover is NOT acceptable and therefore, each driver must be a member of one of these schemes.

If you cannot access the MI website, please contact us and we can post/fax the forms to you.
The Road Traffic Act insurance cover arranged under the IRDS and BRDS schemes is effective from the first Time Control of the event until the Finish Control while the driver is following or attempting to follow the designated route.
