Post About the Trial Drivers Club Reply with quote
The club currently runs 8 events throughout the calendar year, which include the beginners’ Autotest Championship, the Howard Wild Memorial Autotest, the Irish Classic Retro and the International Autotest team event. Our events attract competitors from all over Ireland and the UK. The TDC is also involved in promotional events at Mondello Park where our members perform displays in the interest of promoting the club and attracting newcomers.

We have a wide spectrum of membership from all avenues of motorsport including Autotests, Stage, Navigation and Retrospective rallies, Saloon Racing and Rallycross. Included in our current membership are multiple Autotest Champions, Eamonn Byrne, JJ Farrell and Peter Crimes. Also involved are multiple Autotest and Rallycross Champion, Dermot Carnegie, 19 times National Navigation Champion and ex Billy Coleman co-driver, Paul Phelan and Monte Carlo historic rally winner, Frank Fennell. These members have won over 50 championships between them. However, it is hard to top the achievements of our most famous ex member, the Legendary Stirling Moss.

The TDC is focused on organising quality motorsport events throughout the year with the inclusion of championship and fun events. The Club has a committee made up of very experienced competitors who are always willing to give expert advice to both beginners and experts. New members and drivers are always welcome and anyone wishing to get involved in motorsport should contact us immediately as we are more than willing to help newcomers to the sport.

Ok, lets see how my memory from when I was about 10 goes!!
The guy in the silver mini clubman is Aidan Cavey I think
Was it Peter Faulkner with the hat in the red Midget?
The pics with the Flogas advertisements are from the televised event in Leopardstown racecourse. I was at that event, think I was 9 or 10 at the time.
I think I still have that event on video somewhere. Its on an old 60minute video tape. Was about 1983 I think

Phillip
I never knew Russ Swift sponsored Dermot Carnegie's rallycross car for years.
The Da should be able to clear that one up.

On the subject; our Guten Tag friend, David Kennedy should be able to answer.
Who IS driving the red ' bucket' mini special ?

Piers
I will add some detail but would ask others to do so also.

We should get Phelix to do a session on them.

Rory
I suppose the video is tape ? Was that the RTE coverage ?

And finally

Social occasion idea. I recall Steve Griffin's brother Shea taking film of autotests circa early 1980's . Would be good to see...............
And other video/film stuff people have.
Eamonn King, I think, has the American TV slot of the RDS event I ran. 58 entries lads !

Tim, didn't cop that one! Sorry! It's just that I have a similar photo with a Mini being driven by Russ Swift, should have checked it first, could even be the same event?...

C'mon lads
Dont leave it all up to Phillip to make the running.

P
The Autoglaze car is John Ryan who is also MD of the company. He used share with his brother, Oliver.

You are correct with Russ Swift: but which picture ?

And you mention you had a photo from an event around then. Can we get access for the TDC History section
G'won Myles: You have millions of them. I've put you on the site: you can put others on. Or is it F.F. ?
